Vlog - Day 7: Road Trip :)

Me and my dad took a trip to Bolton and then to Bradford to pick up some things. Enjoy. There isn't a huge amount of talking because i still find Vlogging embarrassing :)

Review: Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick in Darling (134)

Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick
in Darling (134)

Cost: i think it was £6.00

My Thoughts: This lipstick has been given A LOT if hype on the internet so i was always a little sceptical to buy it in case it didn't live up to my expectations. This i kind of like what i wanted Mac's Myth to be, a lovely nude colour that is really soft to apply and doesn't require a gloss or balm to make is nice and shiney :) However, i don't know of i would class it as my HG nude lipstick. It doesn't last all that long (but i think that might just be my lips not the lipsticks fault) and when its gone, it can leave my lips slightly dry :(

Where you can buy:
Superdrug

Would i re-purchase: Yes :)

Overall Score: 8/10

The Month In Covers - March

This is my second instalment of the Month In Covers posts i am starting to do :) It is basically where i give my opinion on the cover picture each magazine has chosen for this month. It is ok if you disagree with me, i expect some people will, because this is a complete opinion based post :)

Vogue
I dont like. I think it's bland and boring. And im not really a fan of Alexa Chung. I like her style and stuff but i just dont like her as a cover star for Vogue.

Vanity Fair

An issue like this comes out every year. It showcases the new talent in Hollywood and i've always wanted to buy Vanity Fair just for these issues :) I really dont like how Kristen Stewart and Anna Kendrick are laid, but i do like the colours everyone is wearing and the grass background

US Elle
This issue is technically from February, but because it can take a long time to ship magazines overseas, i havent seen the March issue in my shop yet :( Overall i dont really like this picture. I think Jennifer looks really pretty, but there is ALOT on show

Teen Vogue
I think this i really pretty. It is very teen appropriate and i love Mia's dress. I think maybe the pose is a little boring, but i still really like the cover as a whole

Nylon
I've been really bored with Nylon recently. There is just not much that jumps out and grabs my attention any more Also, i'm not a fan of The Vampire Diaries so this cover didn't really excite me. I do however really like what Nina is wearing

Marie Claire
I really like Nicole Richie and i really like her pose in this picture, i just don't really like the white shirt with that skirt. Other than that, i think its good :)

InStyle
LOVE IT. I love Leighton. I love Burberry. I love lilac as a March colour. I just really like everything about this :) Well done InStyle :) I think i would have just toned down her eye make-up.

Harper's Bazaar
I love this issue too. The picture of Cindy is fabulous :) I love covers with the big 80's - 90's SuperModels on!

Glamour
Meh. I dont like Dannii, but i love her McQueen dress!

Elle
I think Liv has great style. And i love her hair. And the fact that the cover is grey :) One again Elle have impressed me :D

Canadian Vogue
I still view Rachel McAdams as the bitchy girl out of Mean Girls but i think she looks really elegant in this picture. I would have preferred something little more playful maybe

International Swap goodies from Emily :)

Me and Emily organised an international swap just before Christmas. Originally it was just for a magazine, but then we both decided we would throw in a few make-up bits too :) Emily got her parcel on Feb 1st but mine only came today ... i think it was being help up in customs :(

I got:

Canadian Vogue Jan 2010
China Glaze in Heaven
China Glaze in Camisole
China Glaze in VIII
China Glaze in Ravishing, Dahling
L.A Color Art Deco in Silver
A Lilac eyeshadow (im not too sure where from but it is really nice!)
2 Pairs of dangly earrings :)

I'm sure i will get round to doing a more in depth post on everything individually but i just want to say a HUGE thank you to Emily for this swap! I really enjoyed doing it and totally hope we can do another soon :)

Vlog - Day 3-6: Study Room Pictures

I actually remembered to take my camera to school with me for once so i got a little pit of footage of my shopping for my lunch in town :) haha

I would really appreciate idea's of certain things to film that you are interested in. It really can be anything. I'm hoping that once the weather starts to improve i can maybe film a day on the beach or at the park or something.

Avon Haul

I feel like i haven't ordered from Avon in ages so i was really looking forward to getting the things i ordered :)

This is what i got
Another bottle of the Liquid Freeze Spray because it was on sale and i love it :) so i thought i might as well get a back-up
Foundation Samples
  • 3x Magix Cashmere Finish Foundation
  • 2x Perfect Wear Extra Lasting Foundation
  • 1x Ideal Shade Natural Liquid Foundation
An Angled blush brush

I decided to get foundation samples because Avon foundations are about £10 each so i thought i would try a few out first before i bought any

Review: Sleek Sunset Eye Shadow Palette

Sleek Eye Shadow Palette
in Sunset

Cost: £4.99

My Thoughts: I always thought that i would never buy any of the sleek palettes because i always forget about using palettes and just use my single eye shadows. However, when i saw the the Sleek counter at Lincoln, i just couldn't resist :) The pigmentation of the shadows is incredible for the price and the range of colours and finishes they offer throughout all of their palettes is extremely impressive for a high street make-up brand. I do think however that with some of the lighter shades, you have to apply a lot to get to see the colour more then the shimmer or apply them wet.

Where you can buy:
Superdrug

would i re-purchase: yes :) i would also buy other palettes in the sleek range

Overall score: 9/10

NYFW Tutorial - Alexander Wang Inspired

As always, the picture i used is just for inspiration, it is not and exact copy and you do not need to use all the products i used, just use what you have!

Begin by priming both the lid and the under eye area - I used UDPP

Now take a burnt orange colour on a fluffy brush and sweep it over the lid, just past the crease. Then take an angled eye liner brush and bring the same colour along the lower lash line. - I used a colour from the Sunset Sleek Palette

Then take a bronzed brown and lightly sweep it into the crease. It doesn't have to be too obvious - I used Mardi Gras from Boots 17

Brighten up the eye by applying a shimmering champagne colour into the inner corner - I used a light colour from the Sleek Sunset Palette

This is what it should look like so far

Starting from the middle of your eye apply liquid liner to the upper lash line, getting slowly thicker towards the end, and then carry it on underneath

These are the Products I used
UDPP
Sleek Palette - the burn orange colour = Bottom Row, Third from the Left
- the champagne colour = Bottom Row, Second from the Right
Boots 17 Shadow in Mardi Gras
Barry M Kohl Pencil Liner in Black
Mac Penultimate Liner in Rapid Black

Review: Avon Invisible Light Illuminating make up base

Avon Invisible Light
Illuminationg make up base

Cost: I think it is discontinued now but i've seen it range from about £4-£6 on the internet

My Thoughts: This is a lovely liquid highlighter that just adds a very light irridescent to the skin. It blends very easily, but can quickly so be fast when you are using it. It's perfect if you have quite dry skin because its slightly hydrating.

Where you can buy:
Avon brochures & the website

Would i re-purchase: probably not, i like it, but not enough to buy another

Overall Score: 6/10

Review: Barry M Lip Gloss Wand in Pastel Pink (4)

Barry M Lip Gloss Wand
in Pastel Pink (4)

Cost: £4.25 but a lot of superdrug's are doing 2 lip products for £7 at the minute

My Thoughts: The first thing that its you when you open this is the smell. It is delicious! i love it :) The colour itself is a very blue toned baby pink, so if you have slightly stained teeth, this gloss will just emphasise them :( I know a few people find this far too pale to work with, and trust me i understand this, but a thin layer of it can look pretty, without something too Lady Gaga. Do you know what i mean?? You can see glitter in the tube, but not a lot comes out which i like :) I don't find it too sticky but it doesn't really last very long.

Where you can buy:
Superdrug
Boots
some Supermarkets

Would i re-purchase: Yes, and i really like the look of the Toffee one :)

Overall Score: 8/10
